Cosmetic Surgery
Cosmetic surgeries are done in individuals who have undergone gastric bypass surgery and subsequent weight loss program to help regain the contour. Following weight loss surgeries, the skin and tissues that lost the elasticity need to be surgically corrected. The common areas that need cosmetic surgery are breasts, thighs, face, and abdomen. Various surgeries are performed to give the perfect shape and structure to the body.
- Abdominoplasty or tummy tuck – Abdominoplasty is done to remove the excess and loose muscles, the excess fat and skin from the lower abdomen. It also helps to restore and tighten the separated muscles of the abdomen creating a smoother and firmer abdomen
- Brachioplasty – It is done to lift the hanging skin under the upper arms. In this surgery, excess fat and skin below the arm is removed to provide appropriate shape and structure. This procedure may not be appropriate for individuals with repeated armpit infections, excessive underarm sweating, and those who have undergone mastectomy earlier
- Medial thigh lift – Medial thigh lifts the hanging skin of the inner thighs. In this surgery, the loose and excessive hanging skin below the thigh is removed and tightened. Thigh lifting also helps to remove the dimpled appearance of the thigh which is caused by loss of elasticity and bulging of underling superficial fat
